In the Moscow Region, on the night of 5–6 October, a major fire broke out at the «Volodarskaya» linear production and dispatch station — the largest facility for the reception, storage and transhipment of petroleum products in the Moscow region. Footage from the Konstantinov area shows intense flames following a drone attack lasting several hours. The Russian authorities have confirmed a massive air strike on the region, but have not yet officially reported any damage to the oil depot itself.

A fire was reported on the premises of «Volodarskaya»

The first reports of a major fire near the village of Konstantinovo in the Ramenskoye Urban District emerged during the night. The ASTRA OSINT project and monitoring channels identified the location of the fire as the territory of the «Volodarskaya» Forestry Enterprise. Videos released online show bright flames and thick smoke rising above the industrial site.

According to some eyewitness accounts, the fire may have spread to several parts of the station’s infrastructure. The exact extent of the damage had not been independently confirmed at the time of publication. The Russian authorities have not yet reported whether any storage tanks, pumping equipment or main pipelines have been damaged.

Why «Volodarska» is so important

LPD «Volodarska» — It is not merely a fuel storage facility. The site is one of the key hubs in the supply system for petroleum products in Moscow and the Moscow Region. Motor petrol, diesel and aviation fuel pass through it.

The station receives produce from Moscow and Ryazan Oil Refinery and is linked to the ring network of main petroleum product pipelines. This infrastructure supplies fuel to airports, amongst other destinations Vnukovo, Domodedovo and Sheremetyevo.

Previously, «Volodarskaya’s» annual turnover was estimated at approximately 3 million tonnes of petroleum products. Following the modernisation of its pipeline system, Transneft announced that it would be able to increase supplies of aviation fuel to Moscow’s airports to 3 million tonnes per year, diesel to 2.8 million tonnes, and petrol to 1.6 million tonnes.

Therefore, even a temporary disruption to the facility’s operations could potentially affect fuel logistics in the capital region. The severity of the consequences of the current fire will become clear once details of the damaged equipment are available.

The Moscow Region has come under a massive attack

Governor of the Moscow Region Andriy Vorobyov stated that, during the night, Russian air defence and electronic warfare forces had allegedly destroyed or neutralised 185 drones in 16 municipalities. According to him, private homes, outbuildings and cars have been damaged. In the Domodedovo district, one house caught fire and another was destroyed.

The Russian side also reported that one fatality and six injured. According to the governor, a 20-year-old man was killed in the village of Radumlya.

Mayor of Moscow Sergey Sobyanin He also claimed that hundreds of drones had been heading towards the Moscow region during the night, and that some of them had allegedly been shot down as they approached the capital. Due to the threat, Rosaviatsiya temporarily restricted operations at Moscow’s airports.

There is as yet no official confirmation of the scale of the attack on the oil depot

Photographs and videos confirm a large-scale fire in the vicinity of the facility, and its location has been identified by OSINT analysts. However, as of this morning, Russian state bodies had not published a detailed report on the condition of the station itself. Furthermore, there has been no official statement from the Ukrainian side regarding the strike on this specific facility. It is therefore too early to say whether the oil depot has been completely shut down or to specify the exact number of storage tanks destroyed.
