The petrol station had been attacked before

The «Samara» Oil Transfer Station is one of the major hubs in the Russian oil transport system. The station handles the receipt, storage, blending and onward transport of oil via main pipelines.

At the facility, crude oil with varying sulphur content is blended to produce the Urals export grade. Crude oil flows from Tatarstan, Western Siberia and other oil-producing regions of Russia pass through the terminal.

Throughout October 2026, this facility had already come under attack on several occasions.

In particular, on 10 October, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine officially announced that the «Samara» oil storage facility had been struck again. At the same time, the Ukrainian military confirmed that, as a result of the previous attack on 7 October, four storage tanks, each with a capacity of 50,000 cubic metres, had been destroyed, and a large-scale fire had broken out on the plant’s premises.

The General Staff noted that the station is also involved in meeting the needs of the Russian armed forces.

The consequences of the latest strike on 2 November are currently being assessed. There is as yet no official confirmation of the nature of the damage to the facility.
