In Ukraine, police officers are now able to issue urgent restraining orders electronically from their tablets.

Ukraine launches electronic urgent restraining orders for offenders

Ukraine launches electronic delivery mechanism urgent restraining orders against the offender. From now on, police officers in all regions can draw up a document directly from their tablets - without paperwork and delays.

The initiative is implemented by the Patrol Police Department and aims to strengthen the protection of victims of domestic violence.

What is an urgent restraining order?

An urgent order is immediate response measure, which allows:
- to oblige the offender to leave the place of residence;
- prohibit him/her from contacting the victim;
- ensure physical protection of the victim during the processing of the case.

The document comes into force immediately after it is issued.

Efficiency

It takes much less time to process than in paper format - the decision is made on the spot.

Fast data exchange

The information is instantly transferred to the National Police's information systems and made available to all relevant units.

Higher accuracy

Automation of document completion reduces the risk of technical or human errors common in paper-based procedures.

Paper orders remain in force, and can be used in cases where the electronic version is not available.
