KibOrg hackers break into servers of Russian ASCON, a key developer of software for missiles and tanks
Hacker group KibOrg announced the hacking of the servers of the Russian holding company ASCON, one of the main developers of engineering software for missile, tank and other defence enterprises of the Russian Federation, including companies operating in the field of nuclear technology and radar.
According to KibOrg, the holding's operations have virtually stopped, with access, video surveillance and backup systems unavailable. The hackers obtained more than 10 TB of data, The company's data includes backups of employee mailboxes, video chats and customer information, including Russian defence plants.
Despite the numerous evidences of hacking, ASCON traditionally claims it was a «fake» in its VK posts and tries to convince customers that the company is operating as usual.
This is not the first blow to the holding. Back in 2017, Ukraine imposed sanctions on ASCON, blocking its assets and any activity on its territory. In 2023, the company was also added to the US sanctions list due to its involvement in the Russian defence sector.
