Russian offensive has slowed to a minimum since 2023 - Biletskyi
Russian troops are currently demonstrating the slowest pace of advance in all areas of the frontline since 2023. This was stated by Andrii Biletskyi, commenting on the current situation in eastern Ukraine.
Situation at the frontline
According to Biletskyi, Russian units have actually slowed down their offensive. We are talking about all key areas of combat, particularly in the Donetsk region, where the enemy has been trying to achieve strategic results for a long time.
The slowdown in the pace of advance may indicate both the depletion of the enemy's resources and the effectiveness of the Ukrainian forces' defensive actions.
Possible impact on negotiations
Biletskyi suggested that if the Russian command realises that it is impossible to fully occupy Donetsk region even throughout 2026, Moscow may initiate a return to the negotiation process itself.
In his opinion, it is military futility that can become a key factor that will push the Kremlin to political decisions.
Context.
Recent months have been characterised by positional battles and localised attacks without significant changes to the front line. The Ukrainian command has repeatedly emphasised that the strategy of attrition is gradually reducing the enemy's offensive potential.
