The Supervisory Board of JSC «NAEK «Energoatom» has selected Yuriy Tkachuk, Chief Executive Officer of «Ukrgazvydobuvannya», as the winner of the competition for the post of Chairman of the company’s Management Board. Pavlo Pavlyshyn, who headed the Rivne Nuclear Power Station for over ten years, has been selected as a member of the Management Board responsible for nuclear safety and operations. The new management team will be formed once the relevant procedures have been completed.

Tkachuk’s experience in the energy sector
Yuriy Tkachuk He currently heads JSC «Ukrgazvydobuvannya», and since July 2026 has also been a member of the board of NJSC «Naftogaz of Ukraine». He has over 25 years’ professional experience in the energy and industrial sectors.
Before joining Ukrgazvydobuvannya, he held senior positions at Ukrnafta. In November 2022, Tkachuk became the company’s finance director and was responsible for financial strategy, risk management and investment policy. From May to December 2025, he served as acting head of Ukrnafta.
Nuclear safety will be separated from general management
Pavlyshyn He headed the Rivne Nuclear Power Station from June 2012 to June 2022. The only exception was the period from December 2019 to March 2020, when he served as acting president of Energoatom. In June 2022, Pavlyshyn was appointed director of «Atomremontservice» for the duration of martial law, and from October of that year he served as first deputy mayor of Varash.
Chair of the Supervisory Board Rumina Welsh stated that Tkachuk would be responsible for the overall management of the company, whilst Pavlyshyn would have professional authority in the field of nuclear safety. The model provides for the necessary status and independence of such a manager, including the power to suspend activities that do not meet safety requirements. The supervisory board described this division of responsibilities as standard practice amongst leading nuclear energy operators.

During the international search for a new CEO, Energoatom considered 78 potential candidates from Ukraine and the international market. Nine candidates were shortlisted for a comprehensive assessment. They underwent structured interviews, leadership potential assessments, checks on their professional reputation and integrity, as well as evaluations based on professional and leadership criteria.
The finalists presented their vision for the company’s future development to the supervisory board. The international recruitment firm Korn Ferry supported the assessment procedures and carried out an independent vetting of the candidates« professional reputation and integrity. Once the relevant procedures have been completed, Energoatom will appoint a new management team.
