Users have reported disruptions to Facebook and Instagram

The most common complaints were about the Facebook web version being unavailable, problems with posting Stories on Instagram, and issues with the Ads Manager.

On 19 July, users in various countries reported partial disruptions to Facebook and Instagram. The web version of Facebook displayed a message stating ‘Account Temporarily Unavailable’, whilst some Instagram users were unable to post Stories. Complaints about the Meta Ads Manager being unavailable were also raised in related discussions.

Briefly about the main points

  • On the web version of Facebook, a message appeared stating that the account was temporarily unavailable.
  • Some Instagram users were unable to post Stories.
  • Some mobile apps and Facebook Lite continued to work.
  • Advertisers have complained about issues with Meta Ads Manager.
  • Meta has not commented on the nature or scale of the incident.

What issues have users reported?

The most common complaint in Facebook A message appeared saying «Account Temporarily Unavailable». The text explained that the problem was related to the website, so the mere appearance of such a warning does not indicate that a specific profile has been blocked or hacked.

On Instagram, some users reported being unable to post Stories. At the same time, some participants in related discussions noted that the mobile apps or Facebook Lite remained accessible. This suggests that the issues were partial in nature – specifically affecting web access and certain features – rather than a complete, simultaneous outage of Meta’s services.

Complaints about Meta’s advertising tools

Some advertisers were also affected. In a dedicated discussion thread, users from Europe and North America reported that Ads Manager was unavailable and that they were unable to pause their ad campaigns via the control panel.

This could cause significant disruption for businesses running active campaigns in real time. However, there is currently no data on the actual impact on ad impressions or potential losses.

A series of technical glitches over the past month

Meta did not officially comment on the nature and scale of the issues on 19 July. IsDown, which monitors the company’s status page, showed that components such as Facebook Login, Meta Business Suite and the Messenger API for Instagram were operating normally at the time of the check.

The current complaints have arisen following several recent incidents. According to StatusGator, on 23 June, Facebook and Instagram failed to load or refresh for 2 hours and 10 minutes, whilst on 12 June, the service estimated that the outage lasted for nearly eight hours. Meta has not specified a common cause for these incidents.
