The first photos have emerged from the set of the family feature film *Petrik Pyatochkin at the Cinema*, based on the well-known Ukrainian cartoon. The lead role is played by 9-year-old Oleksandr Voitekhovskyi, whilst the character’s parents are played by Kateryna Kuznetsova and Andrii Bednyakov. The film is scheduled to premiere in 2027.

The cast of the family drama
The team had previously held an open casting call in Kyiv for the lead role, open to boys aged between eight and 12. Oleksandr Voitekhovskyi will play Petryk in the film, whilst Kuznetsova and Bednyakov will portray his parents on screen.
In their January announcements, the creators described the upcoming film as a new adventure story featuring a well-known character, rather than a literal adaptation of the animated film.
Kirienko, Taller and Bragin are working on the film
The director of «Petrik Pyatotchkin in films» is Oleksandr Kirienko. The project is being produced by Yevhen Taller, who is also working on the screenplay alongside Oleksandr Bragin.
The source material for the new film was the 10-minute animated musical *How Petrik Pyatochkin Counted the Elephants*, produced in 1984 by *Kyivnaukfilm*. It was written by Natalia Guzeeva and directed by Oleksandr Viken.
