Ukrainian MP Dubinsky was served with another notice of suspicion of high treason. According to the investigation, he used his media platforms to spread pro-Russian narratives. Dubinsky himself confirms that it is him who is being investigated and reports searches in the pre-trial detention centre and at his lawyers' offices.
Dubinsky faces new suspicion of high treason
The Office of the Prosecutor General has announced that another MP has been served with a notice of suspicion of high treason. Although the suspect's name has not been officially revealed, the Dubinsky publicly confirmed that it was him. According to the investigation, he used his social media to spread Russian propaganda.
According to Dubinsky, searches are currently taking place not only in his pre-trial detention centre, but also at the offices of his lawyers. The investigation is ongoing, and the details of the case remain classified, according to the Prosecutor General's Office.
Investigation: use of social media for propaganda
According to the investigation, the MP used his own Telegram channel, Facebook and Instagram to disseminate information that coincides with the narratives of Russian propaganda. This is a systematic use of information platforms to influence public opinion in Ukraine.
Investigators believe that such actions could have harmed the national security of the state. In this regard, additional investigative actions were initiated and searches were conducted at the suspect's and his defenders' places of residence.
Dubinsky's reaction and the course of the investigation
In his statements, Dubinsky himself said that not only his place, but also his lawyers' places were being searched. According to the MP, the actions of law enforcement officers relate to a new suspicion he received today.
No official comments on the content of the suspicion have been received from the Prosecutor General's Office so far. At the same time, the defendant himself is actively commenting on the situation on his social media.
Why it matters
The suspicion of high treason against an MP has a significant public outcry. It underscores the threats posed by information warfare and the use of social media to destructively influence society.
Increased attention to such cases may signal to other public figures that they are responsible for spreading hostile propaganda. At the same time, the course of the investigation and the reaction of the parties leave many open questions about the protection of the rights of suspects and the transparency of the investigation.
