Kyiv has expanded its free flu and human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination programme. From now on, vaccinations will be available to a wider range of residents of the capital, said Tatiana Mostepan, director of the Kyiv City State Administration's Health Department.
Expanding the vaccination programme
The Kyiv City Council supported the initiative of the Department of Health to expand the targeted Public Health programme. Now thousands of Kyiv residents will be able to receive free flu and HPV vaccinations.
The solution allows us to reach a larger number of residents, including children and people at risk. The programme is funded from the city budget.
Who can get the flu vaccination
Free vaccination flu vaccine will be available to healthcare professionals and people at risk. The latter include patients with diabetes, chronic heart and lung diseases.
Vaccinations will be carried out in municipal healthcare facilities with a declaration with a family doctor for at least three months.
New opportunities for HPV vaccination
Vaccination against human papillomavirus (HPV) will now be available free of charge to girls and boys aged 12-14. Previously, the state programme provided free vaccinations only for girls aged 12-13.
Expanding the programme is a strategic step in preventing cancer in the future.
Requirements for receiving free vaccinations
Only those Kyiv residents who have a signed declaration with a family doctor in a municipal institution for at least three months can take advantage of the new opportunity.
