Russia attacked a pharmacy warehouse belonging to the pharmaceutical distributor «BaDM» on the outskirts of Odesa, in the Khadzhibey district. A large-scale fire broke out following the strike, and the warehouse premises sustained significant damage. According to preliminary reports, no staff were injured. This is the fourth major pharmaceutical logistics facility to have been attacked by Russia since the beginning of September.

News of the strike emerged on the morning of 14 September. The site is located in the Khadzhibey district on the outskirts of the city.
Footage released shows thick black smoke rising above the warehouse complex and the fire services at work. The State Emergency Service has been called in to deal with the aftermath.
The number of medicines destroyed or damaged and the estimated cost of the losses have not yet been disclosed.
Three further blows to pharmaceutical logistics in September
On 3 September, Russian troops The «Biokon» complex was attacked» in the Boryspil district of the Kyiv region. Medicines from various manufacturers were stored there, including commonly used medicines and expensive cancer treatments.
On the night of 8 September, two ballistic missiles struck the «Optima-Pharm» warehouse in Kyiv. At the time, it was empty, having been destroyed during a previous Russian attack in 2025.
On 12 and 13 September, the complex came under attack for two days running Universal Logistic in the Boryspil district. The facility, covering an area of around 21,000 square metres, served major distributors supplying medicines to pharmacies across the country.
What role does «BaDM» play in the supply of medicines?
According to the company, «BaDM» supplies medicines to over 18,000 pharmacies and healthcare facilities in Ukraine. Its logistics divisions operate in ten regions.
In the first few months of the full-scale war, the distributor lost around 45% of warehouse capacity, after which it began building new logistics centres. In 2024, the company announced the development of pharmacy warehouses in Odesa, the Kyiv region, Vinnytsia, Poltava and Ivano-Frankivsk.
In December 2025, a Russian missile and drone attack completely destroyed the large «BaDM» distribution centre in Dnipro. The company estimated the value of the medicines and medical devices destroyed there at more than 5 billion hryvnias.
How do the attacks affect the supply to pharmacies?
Following the blow to «Biocon», some suppliers began to change their operating model: instead of holding large stocks to last several months, they may now supply distributors in smaller batches.
Industry representatives and the Ministry of Health do not yet foresee a general shortage of medicines. Some pharmacy chains have enough stock to last from a few weeks to one or two months, and certain imported medicines can be delivered quickly from Europe.
Distributors warn that bulk purchases of medicines several months in advance could lead to local shortages, even where alternative supply channels are available.
