On the night of 20 September, Russian troops attacked the Odesa region once again. The strike hit the warehouses of a supermarket chain, where a major fire broke out. The Odesa Regional State Administration and the State Emergency Service have not officially disclosed the name of the chain, but local media report that the warehouses in question belong to «Silpo». According to preliminary reports, there were no fatalities or injuries.

Food warehouses caught fire in the Odesa region following an attack
The head of the Odesa Regional State Administration reported on the consequences of the night-time attack on the morning of 21 September Oleg Kiper.
According to him, following the Russian strikes, fires broke out warehouses belonging to a chain of grocery supermarkets. The fire was successfully brought under control, and no initial reports of casualties have been received.
The Regional State Administration has not officially named the company that owns the warehouses. However, a number of local Telegram channels and media outlets have reported that the company in question is warehouse facilities networks «Silpo». Therefore, at this stage, it is correct to state the name of the network with reference to local sources.
More than 80 firefighters were involved in putting out the fire
The State Emergency Service reported that following the strikes, there was large-scale fire. More than were called in to deal with the aftermath of the attack 80 rescue workers.
The firefighters’ work was particularly challenging due to the threat of further Russian strikes. Air raid alerts were sounded again whilst they were extinguishing the fire, forcing the rescue workers to operate under constant danger.
As of this morning, the fire had been completely extinguished.
The depots have already been targeted
The State Emergency Service specifically noted that the warehouses that were hit last night, had previously come under Russian attack.
In early September, rescue workers had already reported a second drone strike on a facility in the Odesa region where foodstuffs were being stored. A fire also broke out on that occasion, but it was brought under control without any fatalities or injuries. However, official reports do not allow us to state with certainty that this refers to the exact same warehouse complex.
Attacks on civilian infrastructure in the Odesa region are continuing
In recent weeks, the Odesa region has been regularly subjected to Russian drone and missile attacks.
In September alone, strikes were recorded against the region’s residential, port, industrial, energy and logistics infrastructure. On 20 September, the State Emergency Service also reported a large-scale fire at warehouse facilities in the Odesa district following yet another Russian strike.
