Photographs released show the destroyed vehicle, a fire and debris scattered across the carriageway.

Attack on a minibus in Kramatorsk: what we know so far
On the morning of 8 October, Russian troops struck a passenger vehicle on one of the streets in Kramatorsk. The attack resulted in significant civilian casualties.
According to the head of the Donetsk Regional State Administration Vadim Filashkin, as at 11.10 There are reports of 12 people killed and 14 injured.
Photographs released from the scene show the extent of the damage. The vehicle has been almost completely destroyed. Its remains are burning on the road, and thick black smoke is rising from the point of impact. Debris and other objects are scattered around the area. The bodies of the victims are also visible on the carriageway, some of which have been blurred in the published photographs.
Details of the victims, their ages and the condition of the injured are currently being verified. There is no information as to whether the rescue operations have been fully completed.

The death toll may change
The head of the Donetsk region reported at least 12 fatalities. This figure was confirmed at the time of his statement, but is not final. A further 14 people were injured. Details regarding the nature of the injuries and the number of people hospitalised have not yet been released.

The Head of the Regional State Administration has ordered public transport services to be suspended. Tomorrow has been declared a day of mourning in the city.
Russian troops are continuing their attacks on civilian transport
This is not the first attack on passenger transport in Kramatorsk over the last few days.
On 2 October, a Russian FPV drone attacked a scheduled bus that was already travelling along its route and carrying passengers. Two female passengers were injured in the attack.
On 5 October, the city authorities reported yet another attack by an FPV drone on a bus.
During the first few days of October, Russian troops also carried out strikes on residential buildings, private cars, medical facilities and other civilian targets in the community.
According to the Kramatorsk City Council, the community came under fire 49 times in the first four days of October alone.
Residents of the Donetsk region are being urged to evacuate
Following the attack on 8 October, the head of the Donetsk Regional Military Administration Vadym Filashkin has once again appealed to residents of the region to evacuate to safer parts of Ukraine. Kramatorsk remains one of the largest towns in the Donetsk region where civilians continue to live despite constant attacks. Russian drones, aerial bombs and other weapons pose a threat not only to buildings but also to people travelling around the city by public or private transport.
