The Russian occupiers continue large-scale militarisation of the temporarily occupied Crimea. The so-called «dragon's teeth» - concrete anti-tank barriers traditionally used to deter the advance of vehicles - are appearing along the beaches of the peninsula. Instead of sun loungers, tourist areas and resort infrastructure, the Russian authorities are turning the Crimean coast into a defensive line.
Crimean beaches are being turned into fortifications
In different parts of occupied Crimea, local residents and satellite images show new defences near the sea. The Russian military is installing concrete pyramids, digging trenches and setting up positions along the coast.
Fortifications are being built especially actively on the western and southern coasts of the peninsula. It is these areas that the Russian command considers potentially dangerous in the event of an expansion of hostilities in the Black Sea.
Analysts point out that such actions indicate the growing nervousness of the Russian authorities over the strikes on military facilities in Crimea and the increased presence of NATO countries in the region.
Tourist season under the sign of war
Despite the official Russian propaganda about «safe holidays», the real situation on the peninsula is increasingly reminiscent of a frontline area. In some areas, beaches are being closed off, and some coastal areas are being effectively transferred to military use.
Against this background, the Russian tourist season in Crimea remains weak. Due to security risks, logistical problems and regular attacks on military facilities Many tourists refuse to travel to the occupied peninsula.
Experts note that the Kremlin is increasingly preparing Crimea not for tourists, but for long-term defence.
Crimea remains Russia's key military foothold
Since the start of the full-scale war, Russia has significantly increased its military presence in Crimea. The peninsula is used as a base for launching missiles, drones and supporting the operations of the Black Sea Fleet.
At the same time, Ukrainian strikes on Russian warehouses, airfields, air defence systems and ships are forcing the occupiers to deploy additional forces to defend the region.
The construction of «dragon's teeth» on the beaches has become another symbol of how Russia is turning the resort Crimea into a militarised territory.
