On Thursday, the Lithuanian Foreign Ministry responded to Belarus' accusations that a Ukrainian drone was launched from Lithuanian territory. Vilnius called Minsk's statement a provocation and an attempt to destabilise the situation in the region.
Lithuania rejects Minsk's accusations
The Lithuanian Foreign Ministry on Thursday categorically denied statements of Belarus about the alleged launch of a Ukrainian drone from Lithuanian territory. The ministry stressed that Lithuania had nothing to do with the incident, and that it regarded such accusations as another provocation by Minsk. «We consider this to be part of a hybrid campaign aimed at destabilising the situation on the border,» the Foreign Ministry stressed.
Minsk continues information pressure
Earlier, the Belarusian State Border Committee said that on 19 May, a Ukrainian drone, who had flown in from Lithuania. Minsk accused Vilnius of cooperating with Kyiv to organise attacks on Belarusian territory. Lithuania called such accusations groundless and emphasised that they were unfounded: «Such rhetoric is an attempt to justify its own aggressive actions and intimidate neighbouring states.».
