At a defence exhibition in the UK DVD 2026 unveiled the new lightweight tactical vehicles, the Timber Wolf and Silver Wolf, developed by Rheinmetall UK and Mercedes-Benz UK for the British Army. Both new models are built on a shared platform Mercedes-Benz W464, which is based on the G-Class for rescue and special operations. The vehicles have become part of the Wolf Pack family, which already includes the Shadow Wolf and the Caracal.

What is known about Timber Wolf and Silver Wolf
The new Timber Wolf and Silver Wolf were unveiled at the exhibition DVD 2026 in Millbrook, which is taking place on 15–17 September. They are the latest additions to the Team Wolf family of light tactical vehicles.
Both cars are based on the Mercedes-Benz W464 platform. The German car manufacturer is responsible for the base chassis and automotive technology, whilst Rheinmetall UK — for military integration, specialist equipment and mission systems.
The companies emphasise that the G-Class has been used for over 45 years in conditions that demand high off-road capability, reliability and the ability to adapt to a variety of tasks.
A single platform for a range of military tasks
The core concept behind Wolf Pack is not to create just one specialised vehicle, but an entire family of products based on a highly standardised platform.
Rheinmetall states that vehicles in this family can be used for troop transport, command and control tasks, medical evacuation, the transport of military personnel, logistics and other specialised missions.
The standardisation of chassis, electronic systems, interfaces and crew training is intended to reduce the number of different types of equipment in the armed forces and simplify repairs and maintenance.
Timber Wolf and Silver Wolf complement those already presented Shadow Wolf and Caracal.
They want to manufacture and service the vehicles in the UK
Rheinmetall UK and Mercedes-Benz UK have also officially expanded their Team Wolf partnership as part of the UK programme Land Mobility Programme.
Rheinmetall will be the main centre for the integration of technology BAE Systems Land in Telford. It is there that they plan to carry out the installation of military equipment, as well as the testing and adaptation of the vehicles to meet the requirements of the British Army.
The companies want to increase the proportion of British components in the programme to 50%. The plan is to involve around 30 British suppliers, including small and medium-sized companies. The project is also expected to support hundreds of jobs.
The machines are designed to last for more than 20 years
Team Wolf is offering the British Army not only the vehicles themselves, but also a long-term maintenance programme for them.
Rheinmetall states that the programme provides for Over 20 years of technical support, the possibility of upgrading and installing new specialist equipment throughout the machines’ service life.
Consequently, the Timber Wolf and Silver Wolf are set to form part of a wider effort by the British Army to standardise its fleet of light tactical vehicles around a few common platforms.
