A major logistics centre near Voronezh has come under attack
Complex Wildberries is situated in the Novousmansky District of the Voronezh Region. Construction began in 2023, and the planned area was approximately 150,000 square metres. Once fully operational, the centre was expected to cover an area of approximately 156,000 square metres.
The hub is used for receiving, sorting, storing and subsequently distributing Wildberries goods across the region.
The full extent of the damage caused by the new attack on 11 August has not yet been announced. At present, there are no confirmed figures regarding the area affected by the fire, the volume of goods destroyed or any possible casualties.
This depot was already attacked in July
On 23 July, the Voronezh Region came under a large-scale drone attack. The region’s governor Oleksandr Gusev he then acknowledged the damage the roof of one marketplace’s warehouse and the façade of another warehouse facility, without naming the company.
Russian media have established that it was the Wildberries logistics centre in the Novousmansky District that suspended operations following the attack. Staff were told to come in at different times on several occasions, and the complex resumed operations at around midday.
Satellite images cited by independent Russian media also confirmed that the Wildberries facility was hit during that attack.
Wildberries has become one of the main targets of long-range strikes
The attack near Voronezh is taking place against the backdrop of a large-scale campaign of strikes against the Russian logistics network Wildberries.
Ukrmedia reported that, as of 18 July, at least 20 of the company’s sites in various regions of Russia came under attack. According to the agency’s estimates, the attacks have already destroyed or rendered inoperable more than 1.18 million square metres of warehouse space — more than a fifth of the company’s logistics capacity.
Among the facilities targeted in recent weeks were warehouses in the Moscow, Leningrad, Tambov, Samara, Tver, Vladimir, Tula and Sverdlovsk regions.
On 5 August, a large logistics centre caught fire following an attack Wildberries hub in the Tula Region. The company evacuated its staff and was forced to redirect its goods to other sites.
The strikes are already affecting Russian logistics
The series of attacks has begun to have a significant impact not only on Wildberries itself, but also on sellers, collection points and the speed of delivery in Russia. The company is having to redistribute shipments between other warehouses and alter its logistics routes.
Wildberries and the Russian authorities deny that the company is being used for military purposes. The Ukrainian side, meanwhile, has explained the wider campaign of long-range strikes as an effort to increase the economic cost to Russia of continuing the war.
