On 26 September and during the night of 26–27 September, the Ukrainian Defence Forces struck military targets belonging to the Russian army in the temporarily occupied territories of the Donetsk and Luhansk regions. In Donetsk, a facility used for the storage, preparation and launch of attack drones was targeted, whilst ammunition depots, fuel depots and logistical support facilities were also hit, according to the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

A training and launch site for attack drones was struck in Donetsk
According to the Ukrainian Armed Forces, a site in occupied Donetsk where the Russian army stored, prepared and launched attack drones has been struck. The military stated that systematic strikes against such infrastructure should reduce Russia’s ability to deploy attack drones against Ukraine.
У in the appeal at the UN General Assembly, the President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported that between January and August 2026, Russia had deployed 63,000 attack drones against Ukraine, including more than 7,700 «Shahed» rocket-powered drones.
In the Luhansk region, ammunition and logistical supplies came under attack
In Krepensk and Luhansk, the Defence Forces struck two ammunition depots. In Rovenky, a logistics depot belonging to the Russian army was targeted.
Such facilities are used to store supplies and support units engaged in combat operations. Simultaneous strikes against ammunition and material supplies could potentially hamper the logistical support of Russian troops.
A fuel and lubricants depot was attacked in Novoamvrosiivsk
Another strike targeted Novoamvrosiivske in the Donetsk region, where, according to the Ukrainian Armed Forces, a Russian army fuel and lubricants depot was hit.
Novoamvrosiivske is situated approximately 80 kilometres from Donetsk. The strikes on fuel facilities, alongside ammunition depots and military vehicles, have disrupted several links in the Russian Federation’s logistical support chain for its troops.
Defence forces are continuing to carry out strikes on drone targets in the Donetsk area
On 17 September, the Ukrainian Armed Forces had already reported striking a facility in the Donetsk area used for the storage, preparation and launch of attack UAVs. At that time, there were also reports of attacks on logistics depots in the Donetsk and Luhansk regions.
Over the past few weeks, the General Staff has repeatedly reported strikes on Russian facilities used for the production, storage, command and control, and launch of attack drones in the occupied territories. The Ukrainian Armed Forces have stated that strikes against key military targets of the Russian army will continue.
