DTEK imports liquefied natural gas from the US to strengthen Ukraine's energy security
Energy company DTEK is expanding its imports of liquefied natural gas (LNG) from the United States by opening a new route through terminal in Klaipeda, Lithuania.
On 17 November, another batch of American gas arrived there - a transported for the first time by this route. The delivery is 160 thousand cubic metres of LNG, which corresponds to approximately 100 million cubic metres of conventional gas after regasification.
The resulting volumes will be sent:
to Ukraine,
Baltic States,
Poland,
and other Eastern European markets.

stable passage of the heating season.
The company is already working on new contracts, to increase imports and strengthen the region's energy resilience.
Context.
After 2022, European countries and Ukraine are actively reorienting energy supplies to LNG from the US and other partners, and the Baltic terminal infrastructure plays a key role in regional energy security.
