Body cameras in shopping malls «don't work» exactly when you need them
Body cameras to record the work of employees of territorial recruitment centres, do not have any effect, The Ombudsman of Ukraine said that the law enforcement agencies are not working properly, as they are either not working or absent at the most problematic moments. This was stated by the Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights Dmytro Lubinets.
According to him, the body cameras were introduced for transparency and control, but practice shows otherwise: during inspections or conflict situations, TCC employees often claim that the equipment is «discharged», «broken» or «out of order».
Lubinets called this unacceptable and stressed that such cases should be checked separately, as it is difficult to establish an objective picture of the events in the absence of video recording.
The Ombudsman stressed that issues related to the work of TCCs and transparency of their activities remain among the most frequent complaints from citizens.
