Volodymyr Zelenskyy, President of Ukraine: «The enemy timed this attack to coincide with its political calendar — the strike was launched immediately after US Independence Day and on the eve of NATO summit in Ankara. Ukraine is in urgent need of an immediate replenishment of missiles for its Patriot systems and a further strengthening of its air defences.».
Timur Tkachenko, Chair of the Kyiv City Council: «The enemy is deliberately targeting residential areas with ballistic missiles. These are places where people were sleeping and going about their daily lives. All the emergency services are working on the ground at full capacity, and the clean-up operation is ongoing.».
Mobile rescue centres have now been set up at the sites of the strikes and where debris has fallen, whilst the police are documenting yet another war crime committed by the Russian Federation against the civilian population of Ukraine. The consequences of the attack and the exact number of missiles fired by the enemy are being ascertained by the Ukrainian Air Force.
