Two minutes of tension: how the duel of the eyes went
Oleksandr Usyk і Rico Verhoeven took to the stage in Egypt to have a traditional duel of the eyes before the upcoming fight. For almost two minutes, the two boxers kept their eyes on each other, demonstrating their psychological readiness for the fight. At the end, the promoter unexpectedly covered Verkhoven's eyes, after which the athletes shook hands, acknowledging the respect of their opponent.
Usyk in Cossack uniform and plans for the end of his career
The final press conference was held in Vyshyvanka Day, and Usyk appeared in a costume created by designer Elvira Hasanova. His image was inspired by the historical motifs of the Ukrainian Cossacks. The Usyk-Verkhoven fight will take place on the night of Saturday to Sunday, 24 May. Earlier, Usyk stated: «I plan to have 2-3 more fights before I finish my career.».
