In Kyiv, according to Mr Zelenskyy, Russian jet-powered drones struck two nurseries, two schools, a residential building, a service station, warehouses and communications facilities. The President did not provide details of the specific damage to each of these sites.
A sports school has been damaged in the Dnipropetrovsk region, and a regional children’s home has been damaged in the Sumy region. The Head of State described the attacks on civilian targets as acts of terrorism and called on partners to step up pressure on Russia.
Ukraine is stepping up its efforts to counter jet-powered drones
According to the President, Russia has used 277 against Ukraine since yesterday attack drones, including 155 jet-powered ones. In his address on 26 September, Zelenskyy stated that Ukraine has several effective prototypes of interceptors for such drones, which individual units are already deploying in combat conditions.
According to him, production of these weapons is being scaled up. The President estimated that 55% jet-powered «shahids» had been intercepted. In September as a whole, Russia deployed over 2,730 such drones, of which more than 1,500 were shot down or neutralised.
