Poland will continue to support Ukraine
Poland’s Minister of National Defence Vladislav Kosinyak-Kamysh stated that Poland would continue to support Ukraine. This decision will remain unchanged, regardless of domestic political disputes. The main reason for this stance is Poland’s strategic interests, which lie in Ukraine’s victory in the conflict.
Criticised the president
Kosinyak-Kamysh levelled sharp criticism at the president Karol Navrotsky, accusing him of «betraying the Polish military uniform» for refusing to sign the SAFE agreement. The minister believes that this stance is not in the national interests of Poland, which should support Ukraine in its struggle.
The transfer of Patriot missiles
The transfer of air defence systems to Ukraine missiles The decision regarding the Patriot systems became a subject of debate following criticism from representatives of the Law and Justice party. The minister defended this decision, emphasising that it had been taken at the request of the United States and the NATO Secretary-General. In his view, it was the right decision, one that contributes to Poland’s security.
Political manipulation
The minister also accused politicians from the Law and Justice party of political manipulation. He emphasised that such actions fail to take into account Poland’s national interests, which lie in supporting Ukraine as part of its national security.
Poland’s security ties with Ukraine
Kosiniak-Kamysz emphasised that aid to Ukraine is not only a demonstration of solidarity, but also a matter of Poland’s own security. For several years now, the Ukrainian army has been holding back Russian aggression, thereby defending NATO’s eastern flank. Warsaw will continue to assist Ukraine, whilst setting out clear conditions regarding specific types of military equipment and weaponry.
