Odesa (Ukrmedia) – On the night of 8 July, Russian forces launched a large-scale attack on the Odesa region using attack drones, damaging three petrol stations and a piece of energy infrastructure.

A massive drone attack on the Odesa region

On the night of 8 July, Russian forces launched a massive attack using strike drones against civilian infrastructure in the Odesa region. According to local authorities, three petrol stations in the south of the region were damaged as a result of the strikes. Fires broke out at the sites, which are being swiftly brought under control by the emergency services.

In addition, one of the energy infrastructure facilities was hit. According to preliminary reports, there were no fatalities or injuries as a result of the night-time attack.

The number of people injured in Odessa has risen

Meanwhile, the full extent of the damage caused by the evening missile strike on Odesa is still being assessed. As of this morning, the number of casualties had risen to 11. Nine people have been admitted to hospital. According to medical staff, a 48-year-old man is in a serious condition. The other casualties are receiving all necessary medical care.

Clean-up operations are continuing

Rescue workers, medical staff, law enforcement officers and utility services are working at the sites of the Russian strikes. Efforts are under way to extinguish the fires, inspect the damaged buildings and document the consequences of the attacks. Law enforcement agencies are recording yet another war crime Russia’s actions against the civilian population of Ukraine.
