As a result of yet another Russian attack on Kyiv, one of the facilities belonging to the telecommunications company «Ukrtelecom» has been damaged. Despite the damage caused, the incident has not affected the availability of core services — the operator’s telecoms and internet services continue to operate as normal.

The damage did not cause a major disruption
Representatives of «’ reported the damage to the site,«Ukrtelecom». According to the company, the main telecommunications infrastructure continues to function. Subscribers retain access to the internet and telecoms services. There have been no reports of widespread network disruptions following the latest attack. The company’s specialists are assessing the consequences of the attack and the condition of the damaged infrastructure.
«Ukrtelecom» has an extensive telecommunications network across Ukraine and provides fixed-line telephone services and broadband internet access.
Russia has stepped up its attacks on telecommunications infrastructure
The damage to the Ukrtelecom facility occurred against the backdrop of a series of attacks on Kyiv’s digital and telecommunications infrastructure.
On 23 September, following of the Russian strike Around 100,000 households in Kyiv and the surrounding region experienced problems with internet access. Several internet service providers reported disruptions at the time.
On 25 September, it was damaged as a result of a subsequent attack data centre Datagroup. The company stated that no staff were harmed and that services were maintained thanks to its backup infrastructure.
According to the company, the current disruption affecting «Ukrtelecom» has not resulted in any interruption to service provision either.
Russia has announced strikes on communications facilities
On 28 September, the Russian Ministry of Defence stated that during a night-time attack, Russian troops had targeted, amongst other things, telecommunications facilities in Kyiv. The Russian side claimed to have struck «Ukrtelecom» infrastructure. «Ukrtelecom» confirmed that its facility had been damaged, whilst emphasising that services remained available to users.
