In the Solomyanskyi district of Kyiv, an educational building has been damaged as a result of a Russian drone attack. The Kyiv City Military Administration has officially reported that debris from a UAV fell on the school building. Local Telegram channels claim that the main damage was concentrated around the central entrance and describe the strike as a targeted attack; however, the Kyiv City Military Administration has not yet confirmed this version of events.
Debris from a drone fell onto an educational establishment
The Kyiv City Military Administration reported on the latest consequences of the Russian attack on the morning of 27 September. According to official figures, in In the Solomyanskiy district of the capital, debris from a drone fell onto an educational establishment. Emergency services were dispatched to the scene.
At the time of reporting, details regarding the extent of the damage and any possible casualties were still being clarified. Footage from the scene shows smoke and fire in part of the building, as well as structural damage.
Local TV channels are reporting on the main entrance
Telegram channels in Kyiv report that the part of the building near main entrance. Some of them describe the incident as a targeted attack on the school.
Officially, the Kyiv City Military Administration has so far reported only that debris from a UAV fell on an educational establishment. As of now, no evidence has been made public to suggest that the drone was deliberately directed straight at the school’s main entrance.
Therefore, the claim that this was a targeted attack currently remains an assessment by local sources.
The Solomyanskyi district has once again come under attack
Over the last few days Solomianskyi district has been repeatedly targeted by Russian strikes. On the night of 27 September, a Russian drone struck a maintenance depot, causing a fire. At another location, a UAV struck a non-residential building — whilst extinguishing the fire, emergency services discovered the body of a man.
The day before, bomb disposal experts also discovered an unexploded warhead from a Russian drone in the area, weighing approximately 50 kg. It was lying a few hundred metres from one of the educational establishments. The munition was recovered and defused.
The consequences of the attack are still being assessed
Emergency and municipal services are working at the site where the school was damaged. Experts are to determine the type of drone, the nature of the damage and the circumstances surrounding the fall of its debris. They are also checking whether anyone was inside the building at the time of the attack.
